Paolo Manzi è nato nel 1979 ed ha vissuto a Sondrio fino all'età di 25 anni. Da sempre ha avuto una spiccata propensione per l'arte fotografica, ma ha dovuto attendere l'aumentare dei propri capitali per poter concretizzare il suo sogno.
Parallelamente, all'età di 12 anni, ha il primo contatto con il mondo del rock e dell'heavy metal grazie ad un disco dei Metallica. Negli anni successivi si dedica e si appassiona sempre più a questo genere di musica e verso la fine degli anni '90 inizia a seguire con interesse crescente il lato live, assistendo al maggior numero di concerti possibile.
Dopo aver conseguito il diploma di maturità ed essersi inserito nel mondo del lavoro inizia a muovere i primi passi fuori dall'Italia, per seguire la scena musicale del Nord Europa ed in particolar modo quella tedesca e scandinava.
Nel 2003 finalmente la sua passione per la fotografia diventa un hobby ufficializzato.
Paolo crea la webzine musicale Holymetal.com, grazie alla quale otterrà i primi accrediti foto per i vari festival e concerti del mondo heavy, e realizzerà scatti per diversi booklet musicali, tra i quali quello degli svedesi Seventh One, degli italiani FolkStone e Spellblast. Da quel momento in poi dedicherà tutto se stesso a questo portale, rendendolo negli anni uno dei più visitati, anche e soprattutto grazie ad una delle photogallery meglio fornite della rete heavy italiana. Nel 2004 il trasferimento su “quel ramo del lago di Como”, nella città di Lecco, contribuirà all'evolversi della sua passione per le foto naturalistiche.
Dal 2005 alcuni suoi scatti verranno pubblicati anche sulla rivista cartacea Metal Maniac assieme a live report e servizi speciali.
Nel 2006 il salto di qualità: Paolo passa a Canon e si specializza nell'uso di software per la rielaborazione grafica.
Si perfeziona così nel campo live e naturalistico ed inizia a proporsi anche in quello cerimoniale e ritrattistico.
Così, nell'arco di 10 anni, fotografa oltre 400 gruppi musicali, dalle grandi bands a formazioni esordienti.
Con l'avvento e la diffusione in rete di myspace, alcune bands lo contattano per poter utilizzare i suoi scatti nei propri account e nei loro siti web.
Attualmente le sue foto sono facilmente reperibili in tutta la rete.

Paolo Manzi was born in 1979 in Sondrio, where he lived until he was 25. He has always been keen on photography, but he had to wait for his personal economic situation to improve before making his dream come true.
On the other side, at the age of twelve he comes in touch with the world of rock and heavy metal music for the first time thanks to a record by Metallica. During the following years he is moved deeper and deeper by this music genre to which he devotes himself and by the end of the nineties he gets more and more involved in the live side by taking part to as many concerts as possible.
After having passed his school-leaving examination he starts working, but he soon moves abroad to keep in touch with the North European music panorama and particularly the German and Scandinavian ones.
In 2003, finally, his passion for photography becomes official.
Paolo creates the music webzine Holymetal.com, through which he will get his first credits as a photographer at various heavy metal concerts and festivals. He takes shots for several music booklets among which the one for the Swedish “Seventh One” and for the Italian “FolkStone” and “Spellblast”. From now on, he totally devotes himself to Holymetal.com by making it one of the most surfed portals, thanks, above all, to one of the richest photo-galleries of the Italian heavy metal net.
In 2004 his moving to Lecco (a village along the famous Como lake), will contribute to his raising passion for landscapes and naturalistic photography.
Since 2005 some of his shots as well as some live and special reports have been published also in the paper magazine “Metal Maniac”.
In 2006 a significant improvement occurs: Paolo chooses Canon and becomes a specialist in the use of software for photo editing.
He improves more and more in live and landscapes photography while he also begins to explore portraits and ceremonial acts. This way, over more or less 10 years, he photographs more than 400 groups, going from famous bands to beginners. With the upcoming and spreading of myspace, some bands ask him to let them use his shots for their accounts and web sites.
Currently, his photos can be easily found all over the web.
